What a casting (or go-see) is
A casting or ‘go-see’ is a short meeting where a client or agency looks at you in person for a specific job or for their books. They might check your measurements, look through your digitals or book, ask about availability, and sometimes ask you to walk or take a quick test photo. It is usually brief and routine — think interview, not performance.
What to bring
Keep it simple: your comp card or digitals if you have them, photo ID, and (for fashion) a pair of plain heels. Have the brief and address on your phone, arrive a little early, and if you are under 18, a parent or guardian comes with you. You should never have to pay anything to attend.
What to wear
Go for the ‘clean canvas’ look unless the brief says otherwise: simple, fitted clothing that shows your shape, minimal or no makeup, and natural hair. The client wants to see you and imagine you in their styling — not your outfit.
How to handle the room
Be punctual, friendly and relaxed. Take direction, answer honestly about your availability and experience, and do not oversell. Confidence here is mostly just calm professionalism. It is a quick, normal meeting — treat it like one.
After the casting
No news is not bad news. Decisions can take time and depend on factors well beyond you, so do not chase obsessively — your agency follows up on your behalf. Keep applying and attending; volume and consistency are how castings turn into bookings.
